BAG POLICY

All bags will be searched before entry.

Bags will be restricted to small purses, fanny packs, and single pocket drawstring bags only. Bags may not exceed 14” x 11” x 5” and must have only one singular pocket or opening. Backpacks and bags with multiple pockets are prohibited. Hydration packs are allowed but must be emptied of all liquid and have no more than two pockets in addition to the one holding the water reservoir.

ALLOWED ITEMS

• EMPTY reusable water bottles and hydration packs.

• Chairs: Yes, bag chairs are permitted in designated areas within the festival grounds. We recommend the popular "bag" chairs, however, your "bag" chair is also subject to being searched. We ask that you do NOT bring high-back lawn chairs as they obstruct the view of your neighbors.

• Binoculars

• Blankets, Sheets, Towels

• Non-professional cameras and smartphones are allowed in the venue. No other audio/video recording devices are allowed. Upheaval defines professional cameras to be anything with a removable lens.

• Neck Fans

• Sunscreen in non-aerosol containers

• Strollers

• Medication: Anyone needing prescription medicine at the festival must present the pharmacy-labeled container which states the prescription, dosage, and patient name to our security staff at each entrance gate. Patrons are only allowed a sufficient supply of the prescribed medication for that day. Medicines needing to be inhaled or smoked are prohibited unless in a prescribed inhaler. Medical marijuana is prohibited regardless of prescription or local laws. The festival does not have refrigeration available for medication. If you require a temperature-controlled environment for your medication, you are permitted to bring a personal cooler that fits our bag policy size guidelines.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

• Bags that do no comply with the bag policy listed above - you will be asked to take your bag back to your vehicle if it does not comply!

• Oversized umbrellas (golf umbrellas) or umbrellas with a pointed and/or metal tip

• Aerosol containers (including sunscreen and personal beauty products)

• Outside food or beverages (including alcohol)

• Cans or glass bottles

• Illegal and Illicit substances of any kind

• Pets (Only service animals individually trained to perform tasks for people with disabilities as defined by the ADA are allowed) 

• Selfie/GoPro sticks

• All Grand Rapids parks prohibit smoking of any kind, including vaping and medical marijuana. See the Clean Air and Public Places Ordinances for more details.

UPHEAVAL reserves the right to alter carry-in policies at any time.

UPHEAVAL works closely with local authorities to ensure the safest possible experience. You will notice uniformed and plain-clothed security throughout our festival. They are there to keep you safe, do not hesitate to ask them for help if you need immediate assistance.

For the safety of everyone entering the festival, all fans are subject to a full and complete airport-style search prior to entry. This may include a full body pat-down and magnetometer screening before entry. If you would like to be screened by security personnel of your same gender, please let security personnel know prior to the search process. Screening of children will always take place with the consent of a parent or guardian.

Security will confiscate items if they are illegal. They will not hold any items until the festival is over. If you’re bringing prescription medication, make sure the name on the label matches the name on your ID, and our medical team will clear it at the entry gate.

• A limited number of premium parking spots are located AT Belknap Park (30 Coldbrook St. NE). This parking can be purchased online in advance via our ticketing page. (2025 Parking is SOLD OUT)

• Metered street parking can be found throughout the Monroe North Business District within walking distance to the venue.

• The City of Grand Rapids offers parking throughout downtown Grand Rapids. Take a look at their Interactive Visitor Parking Map to review locations or check out their website HERE for a parking facility map download and rate information.

• We also suggest utlizing DASH, a free shuttle system. You can check out the full route HERE.

  • The DASH circulator will operate every 15 minutes on Friday 7:00 AM - 12:00 AM, Saturday 11:00 AM - 1:00 AM. Take the shuttle to North Monroe & Coldbrook then walk a few blocks to the festival grounds.
